This is me “A Girl Called Rumi”
I’m ZaraRose — a passionate artist and art teacher, dedicated to nurturing creativity and craftsmanship.
My journey spans many art forms, from painting, pottery, calligraphy, and mosaic to fashion design, graffiti, and one of my greatest passions — custom-made artistic woodworking. I love the boldness of transforming raw wood into expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces that blur the line between functional design and sculptural storytelling.
Art has always been my way of exploring and connecting with the world. I have showcased my work in exhibitions both in my home country and in Australia, and nothing brings me greater joy than knowing my creations now live across the globe, traveling through the hands and hearts of others.
Alongside my personal practice, I cherish teaching art — helping students unlock their own creative potential. Through years of leading workshops, private classes, and community projects, I bring not just technical skill but also a passion for experimentation, encouraging others to find their unique artistic voice.
I currently live in Sydney, Australia with my husband John, our adventurous son Ryan, and our little daughter Zoe. When I'm not in the studio or crafting late into the night (yes, I’m a proud night owl!), you’ll find us hiking through parks, reading books, traveling the world, or creating new stories for my podcast and YouTube channel.

The story behind the name " A Girl Called Rumi"
Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi (also given as Jalal ad-did Muhammad Balkhi, best known as Rumi, l. 1207-1273 CE) was a Persian theologian and scholar but became famous as a mystical poet whose work focuses on the opportunity for a meaningful and elevated life through personal knowledge and love of God.
My dad used to read Rumi's poems for us when we were kids (my brothers and me), we grew up with the beauty of his poems. He in my mind is a perfect spiritual person who reveals all secrets, so it all started with love.
From then until now I always seek to find a way to pay my dedication to him and fulfill my liabilities for the love, he gave me my whole life.
